Course Description
Designed for senior managers or technical operators, this advanced course on Petroleum
Economics consolidates the review, assessment, and evaluation of various techniques
encompassed within the scope of petroleum economics. It is anticipated that all participants
possess a thorough understanding of the primary topics to be addressed and applied throughout the
programme, aligning with the nature and complexity of the materials to be presented. This course
is highly interactive and participative, and Excel spreadsheet templates and financial modelling
best practices will be applied rigorously throughout. Delegates will be required to consistently
apply best practices and collaborate with the trainer and their fellow delegates to solve problems
arising from the provided materials and from their own work. The mini case concept is a unique
feature of our training: a mini case is a real-life problem that delegates bring to the training room
to seek assistance in solving. Without any guarantees, we are confident that all such problems will
be resolved during the five days of this course. This course relies on Excel, including techniques
such as Monte Carlo simulations, Decision Tree Analysis, and Multivariate Sensitivity Analysis.
By the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to: -Identify all components of a project lifecycle and specify the relevant stakeholders. -Review the prevalent types of upstream oil and gas projects. - Comprehend and implement forecasting concepts and methodologies. - Establish and utilise a cash flow forecast. -Apply the principles of the time value of money. -Review the primary fiscal regimes worldwide and assess their
implications. - Discuss and integrate risk and sensitivity analyses. -Prepare, analyse, and make informed decisions based on general capital budgeting and the
project selection process. -Evaluate and provide recommendations regarding potential investments in oil and gas. -Utilise and appraise Budgeting and Scenario Management tools within Project Management. -Consider various alternative budgeting systems and approaches: their nature and suitability
